The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education was established in 1969 through an Act No.14 of 1968. The Board had its headquarter in Shimla, till it was shifted to the picturesque Dharamshala in Kangra District in 1983. Functions of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education
The Board performs the following functions:
- Prescribes syllabus
- Designs courses of instruction
- Prescribes text books
- Conducts examinations for the 8th,10th, Plus One and Plus Two classes
- Conducts departmental examinations like Junior Basic Training (J.B.T.), Teacher s Training Certificate (T.T.C) and Pre-Vocational Training Course (P.V.T.C)
