The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Solan was under the education department till the institution was made a society under HP Society Registration Act 1860. The SCERT has projects like Population Education Project, Value Education Project and SOPT project sponsored by the NCERT. The SCERT administers examination like NTSE and conducts different seminars of which Science seminars are most popular. The main tasks of the SCERT are
1. Training and orientation of secondary staff,
2. Research in the field of education,
3. Personnel placement from secondary education department,
4. Funding / grants by education department,
5. Workshop / evaluation / curriculum design.
